There are three main tasks to perform using StartBox on the day of surgery:
(A) Preop Check In;
(B) Handoff to OR (Confirm Patient);
(C) Start Surgery (Record Time Out).

A. Preop Check In (Training 4.2):
This can be done by Preop Nurse, Surgeon or NP/PA
B. Handoff to OR (Training 5.1):
This can be done by the Circulator, Surgeon or NP/PA
C. Start Surgery (Training 5.2):
This can be done by Circulator, Surgeon or NP/PA

A study was conducted at a single site over a twelve-month period. Similarly to the experience reported in a peer-reviewed publication, patient harm was prevented and errors were captured. Additionally, a downward trend in near misses was observed, with zero reported during the last five months of the period.
